Learn How to Get the Skin You Dream Of
Do you wish you had clear and lush skin? We all do! But the people who possess it either have really, really good genes OR follow at least two of our skincare tips below. Stop dreaming of perfect skin and make it a reality. Here’s how:
You are What You Eat
Who doesn’t love a large slice of pepperoni pizza or better yet an order of small fries? Your skin! Yeah, the pizza may taste great but how does it make you feel after? Sluggish? Bloated? Fuel yourself with lots of leafy greens like kale and spinach, which are full of fiber and Vitamins A, B-6, and C. Try tomatoes which are packed with lycopene, an antioxidant that helps protect your skin from sun damage and may also fight cancer. Opt for olive oil instead of butter. Olive oil is full of good fatty acids which will make your skin glow. And avoid processed foods full of chemicals, grease and trans fats that are bad for you –and your skin.
Pass the Water, Please
Get clearer, plumper skin with water. Not only is water calorie free but it also helps flush toxins from your body that can cause blemishes and inflammation. You should have at least eight glasses of water each day. Add lemon, orange, or lime slices for flavor and some Vitamin C, that can improve digestion and promote weight loss.
Keep Your Makeup and Tools Fresh and Clean
Did you know that your makeup has an expiration date? Your brushes can also harbor dirt and bacteria which can cause breakouts. Make sure to clean them regularly. You can use a brand brush cleaner or create your own by mixing a gentle facial cleanser or soap with lukewarm water. Swish your brushes around in the mixture and then rinse with water. Pat dry and lay flat to air dry. Make sure not to submerge the base of the bristles as it can cause the brush hairs to fall out.
Wash Your Face
Just like brushing your teeth, cleaning your face needs to be part of your routine. It is critical to keeping you looking and feeling your best. Take the time to wash your face twice a day and exfoliate once a week. You can even try makeup removing wipes to simplify when you’re on the road or when you just don’t feel like moving from the couch.
Armor Your Skin with Sunscreen
It is easier to prevent sun damage than to fix it once it happens. Wearing sunscreen is the single easiest way to look younger for life. Remember, just because the sun isn’t shining doesn’t mean its rays aren’t strong enough to harm your skin. It is important to wear sunscreen year round. Keep your skin safe by using an SPF 30 moisturizer.
