Become a Skincare Specialist in 4 Rewarding Steps

how to become an esthetician

You’re a rock star with people. You love to make others look and feel amazing. And you have a passion and knowledge for skincare. Sounds like you’re destined to start on the path to a rewarding career as an esthetician. But where do you begin? Follow these 4 steps to get closer to a career as a skincare specialist:

Pick a School

How do you find the right school? First look for a school that offers the program you need to train for esthetics. In this case it would be an Esthetician program specializing in skincare. What sets the Salon Success Academy programs apart is our knowledgeable and passionate staff, hands-on training, on-campus salon and so much more. We also partner with some of the top names in the esthetics industry like Rodan & Fields and MUD Makeup Designory. Once you’ve picked a school, take a tour. This lets you really get a feel for the campus, the staff, and the students. You can even get a glimpse of what your day-to-day life could be like as a student. Make sure to ask questions and maybe even check out a class if you can! Call 1-877-987-HAIR (4247) to book your Salon Success Academy campus tour today.

Get Experience

The state of California requires you to get real life experience prior to obtaining an esthetician license. View California’s Board of Barbering and Cosmetology requirements, here. At Salon Success Academy, you get hands on experience with real life clients as part of the Esthetician program. Also as part of the program, you will:

  • Learn the basics of skin anatomy and physiology
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest techniques and skin care science
  • Learn customer service skills that will wow your future clients

Obtain a License

Once you’ve completed all of your program’s requirements, you’re ready to prep for the exam. At Salon Success Academy, we provide you with an in-depth instruction on California’s Board of Barbering and Cosmetology laws and regulations. You’re even administered a “test” exam and then given invaluable feedback from our staff to help you study further.

Continue Your Education

With your esthetician license, you’ll get to decide what you want to do and where you want to work. You can work in salons and spas, giving facials, waxes and other skin treatments. If you think you’d be interested in medical esthetics, you’ll need more training. But more training can up your earnings. Are you up for it?
