4 Beard Grooming Tips
There’s a big difference between a well-groomed beard and one that is grown out simply because you haven’t shaved. Whether you participate in No Shave November or you’re not shaving because of your sports related superstitions, maintain your beard with these 4 beard grooming tips:
1. Keep it Clean
Just like you wash the hair on your head, be sure you do the same for your beard. Massage your beard with shampoo to remove dead skin cells. Rinse thoroughly to avoid any itch and apply conditioner to moisturize your coarse hair.
2. Trim and Shape
Use a clean razor to chisel the edges around your beard or mustache. For a long, bushy beard, run a fine tooth comb through the hair and trim with scissors to the desired length.

3. Maintain the Neckline
The neckline is where your poor grooming habits will be the most noticeable. If you want a sharp beard line on the neck, then measure about 1 to 1.5 inches or roughly two fingers above your Adam’s apple. From this point, imagine a curve around the front of your neck to your earlobes. You’ll want to shave any hair below this imaginary line. If you want a faded effect, use electric clippers set two grades lower than the one you’d use for your beard. Shave about 0.5 to 1 inch around your beard’s edge.
4. Tidy Up your Mustache
Give your mustache some symmetry and direction. Comb the mustache to either side of the philtrum, which is the groove below the center of your nose. If left untouched, those pesky mustache hairs can encroach over your lip line. Trim the long hairs with a pair of scissors, but be sure to maintain the natural shape of an upside down V.
