In our barbering program, you can learn a multitude of skills and barbering methods. As part of our program, you can also practice your skills on real clients in our student clinics.

At Salon Success Academy, we teach the art of barbering through technical instruction and practical training. Our qualified instructors interact with the students in small classroom settings, which helps ensure more one-on-one instruction. Besides traditional methods of learning, we also have student competitions and practice our skills in the student clinics.

The clinics give students the opportunity to serve members of the community with the skills they can learn while using the latest barbering tools and products. The students are always under the direct supervision of licensed instructors, so they have someone nearby to give feedback and offer advice when needed.

Our curriculum includes lessons about customer service, interacting with clients, and other business matters. We also help students prepare to sit for the state exam. At Salon Success Academy, we want to help you reach your dreams!

The barber training program is 1,000 hours. Full-time students may be able to finish the program in as little as 30 weeks, and part-time students may be able to complete the program in as little as 50 weeks. We provide day and night classes to allow for more flexibility in your schedule. Completing the program provides students with adequate hours to sit for the state exam.

How long does the barber training program take to complete?

How do I know if I should be a barber?

Only you can decide if being a barber is the right career choice for you, but we can help you see the advantages of this rewarding career! When you come for your initial school tour, we will show you what it’s like to be a student in the barbering program. You will have a chance to meet current students and barbering instructors and see the clinic where our barbering students practice their skills on real people from the community (always under the direct supervision of licensed professionals).

What is the difference between cosmetology and barbering?

While both cosmetology and barbering deal with hair care, hair cutting, hair styling, and hair coloring, the main difference is that barbers primarily work on men’s hair. A barber’s education focuses more on men’s hair needs, including facial hair grooming and shaving. Barbering does not include nail care, skin care, or make-up lessons, which are typically covered in a cosmetology program.

The cost of our barber training program is:

Total estimated charges equal $16,140.

To qualify for enrollment in our barbering program, you must meet the following criteria:

Age Requirement: You must be at least 17 years old, reflecting our commitment to providing a comprehensive education for individuals who are truly dedicated to pursuing a career in barbering.
Educational Credentials: We require proof of U.S. completion of the 12th grade, which can be demonstrated through a high school diploma or transcripts. Alternatively, if you’ve earned your GED (General Educational Development) certificate or have passed the HiSET (High School Equivalency Test) or TASC (Test Assessing Secondary Completion) exam, you are also eligible to apply.
